This is a testimonial from Takasima . testamonlais
I'll post mine once I get a chance to use my new set on the track. 8)

FEDERAL 595 RS-R SEMI SLICKS
Tyre Review
The 595 RS-R is the king of Federals motor sport range of tyres. It is a fully street legal semi slick tyre.

I have done various wet and dry tests with my 195/50/15 tyres since I purchased them 6 days ago.

LAUNCHING

I see these tyres as a driving aid. Even a novice drag racer can pull off very good launches with them. I simply rev up to 3000rpm, drop clutch and hit the accelerator to 100% throttle. Minimal wheel spin. The tyres grip like hell and the car moves rapidly off the line. No need to back off the throttle or to feather the throttle. It's just a matter of drop and go full out. This does not mean that you'll never mess up a launch. It's still possible to get it wrong but the likely hood of a failed launch is low. They give you so much confidence when you line up next to your opponent. No need to be nervous that your opponent may out launch you. Unless he has top notch semis too, he most probably won't out launch you. I sometimes experience violent thuds similar to that caused by wheel hop on launch. The tyres basically refuse to spin. This is brilliant for racing but it places strain on your diff and CV joints.

Off the line the Federals out perform both the Striker semi slicks as well as Yokohama S-Drives by far. I get much better launches at 1.8 bar tyre pressure with Federals than what I got from S-Drives and Strikers at 1 bar. Since you can operate them at a much higher tyre pressures and still get good launches, you don't suffer as much as you would from 3rd gear onward as is the case with other street tyres. Running tyres at 1 bar causes rolling resistance which keeps you back in the higher gears. Also unlike with Strikers, the Federals does not require intense burnouts to warm them up. You just pull up to the line and launch. Burnouts are optional NOT mandatory as is the case with the Strikers and sometimes the S-Drives too. This is good for tyre life span.

CORNERING

Unbelievable. Sometimes it feels as if your car runs on rails in bends. My car used to oversteer badly with normal street tyres and also the car felt very unstable in bends. With the Federals its the exact opposite. I pushed my car fairly hard through 90 degree and hairpin bends and they didn't as much as screech under pressure. I find myself having to back off when the tail becomes light and threatens to come around. At that point however I still experience no oversteer. You point your steering in a direction and your car happily obeys your orders.

If you are crazy about high speed cornering, this is the tyre for you!

WET CONDITIONS

With the S-Drives I would wheel spin into limiter when I flooring the accelerator whilst rolling in 1st gear on a wet road. I do not get this with the Federals. They do not loose traction. It's as if you are flooring your car on a dry road.

I drove with them in the wet all day on Friday and Saturday. I deliberately drove through deep puddles and streams running across the roads to test for aqua planing . The tyres did not aquaplane at all. They remained stuck to the ground.

Wet weather cornering is also quite good considering its a semi slick tyre.

CONCLUSION

The Federals are quite pricey but they are indeed true value for money. They retail at around R1250 - R1500 per 195/50/15 tyre but you get the best of both worlds. Superior wet and dry tarmac performance. Perfect for both track and street use. Gone are the days of having to swop out your tyres every time you attend a drag racing event. The Federals are basically two tyres in one

A good 195/50/15 road tyre should set you back about R700. A good semi should set you back about R1800. Federal offers a two in one tyre at only R1250 to R1500 depending on he exchange rate

Will have to look into these tyres for myself..

Have a set of strikers for gymkhana and they grip good..
They just need a lot of heat.......
