This is my experience, thought I'd share it on here. Found a nice priced amp on Gumtree. 2400.4 Ice Power. called the guy and he said they have a shop in Durban Rd. ADVANCED AUDIO & SECURITY. As u get off the N1 for Durban Rd, take a right and they're about 400m on your left. Went there and got it, plus a cable kit and some flex wire, which he said would be good. I wasn't too sure though. Anyway, so far so good. Sales guy also told me that if they don't connect the amp, he can't replace it if it's faulty. Now I recently had a problem with a faulty amp and due to this, I thought, ok, better if they do it just incase the amp's a dud. So I came home and pulled the power cable from the battery through the grommet and to the boot. Called him 2 days after and said I'm coming in. He said cool, no problem. The price for the install was R120 which now changed to R150. No problem. This was for powering the amp and cables to all the speakers. I have only Splits in the front doors and coaxials in the rear cards. Thats it. Got there the morning of the install and sales-guy wasnt there. Install guy wasn't too happy for some reason that my car should be done... blah blah. Salesguy pitched and work began. 20mins into the job. Install guy realises he should run the wires to the speakers aswell and then he told me that wasn't included in the price.... I asked him how much more it would cost on which he didnt reply... this is where I thaught, okay, just wire the f### amp so I see that it's not a dud.... By then I just wanted to get outa there. Now I am no sound fundy, but after he was done with my car, when I got home, this is what I found. Which is truly k@k workman-ship. (1) RCA's and power cables ran on the same side. (2) Speaker wire's from the amp were ran to the head unit where it was connected onto existing speaker wires. (3) amp was mounted to low on the backside of the seat. Seat couldn't push fully back and carpet lifted up. (4) No lugs was used whatsoever. (5) The ONE lug that WAS used, on the battery positive, was crimped using a pliers. (6) Speaker wire used was normal speaker wire. Probly 20 Gauge or less. Which was k@k, because I changed it and could clearly hear the difference. (7) Drilled a hole for ground-cable almost onto my tank, when there are bolts that could be used. (8) The place where the ground cable attaches to wasn't sandpapered or cleaned for good connection. (This caused a Zing when the car's lights came on). I can go on but that's not me. Just thought Id share. There prices seemed very competitive though, but I'll never let em touch my car again. I re-did the complete install and all their k@k is sorted now. Just sad. The sales guy practically begged me for business, but the install guy just saw work coming his way. They woulda made atleast R3k more outa me seeing that my next stage would be subs but no thanks. Think I'll take my money elsewhere. This is one pic I took of MY work. When I am finished, I'll post pics of the complete install

sh!t - that's a crap one
I don't understand how people can be so lazy to do their work properly!
Go back to them & make a scene, even though you not like that...make them know what you think about their useless workmanship & service

Ja, I think their name is Car Audio Warehouse.
Some of these places are dodgy... That's why I maa stick to someone I know...
One "famous" place I went to mos decided to run live wires through the firewall without a grommet, and they were a bit hesitant when I told them to fix it.

Had a similar experience at Sound Match Parow, wires not connected car dirty, clips broken, charged for things not done, had to go back for splitters. Sound was crap. I think the prblem is that the guy's don't take pride in there work and get away charging newbies for substandard work. I also did my own thing sounds good now.

Purcell, yes, but reason I had them connect it, was incase the amp was faulty. Cause if I was to to connect it and the amp was faulty, they woulda just said I messed it up...
Lester, agree with u. Guys aint proud of their work. No ownership. I mean, The amp played, but every thing was done k@k, and that's exactly why we do to the "specialists". So it looks like it should.
If my eye can catch the k@k work, how the hell can a pro miss it... unless he aint no pro.

Yaw dude, shame, that is pathetic service.
That's why I am happy with where I take my car to and will continue to take it there to Soundmatch in Access Park, Kenilworth. They did the install infront of me and I could see everything going on.

Hahhahahaha....i know this place. Its close to where i work. I went in there last year justr after they opened when looking for an amplifier. I didnt like the ones they had on special as it wasnt brands that i knew of. The sales guy was a smooth talker, promising how great the products have performed and waxing lyrical about the customers who have returned for more...all i did was listen Needless to say their whole setup didnt impress me much, but i have come to realise that if you know somebody who u know for a fact has done many installs before...then its best to ask that person's assistance and sometimes be patient for the results are often very worth it. I had work done at Soundmatch Parow before and had to go back to collect a few times to sort things out. With my Kadett i had to go back coz my alarm was messed up after the install and with the Coupe i went back after they fitted my deck and didnt bother giving me the keys back. I agree, and unfortunately in almost all service industries, the people dont take pride in their workmanship hence we complain about poor service so often.

True, and I have learnt that GOOGLE is my friend. I'd rather do a lil research and do it myself... where I can. Much better end product

nemesis stiek uit Yes, where is he!!! PS: I woulda let him do it but for the sake of the amplifier warantee, I though it best to let the "good" salespeople do it... just for "incase".
