Okay guys, like a few others on the forum i was also looking for a little something more out of the Corsa and decided to go the z18xe route.

The first engine was purchased 2 months ago, then while performing the cambelt service i noticed there was excessive play on the crankshaft. So back it went, then after empty promises of new stock arriving i settled on the x18xe1.

Some new goodies and upgrades

Fitted new cambelt kit and waterpump

Then came the really fun part, out with the old

Then i decided to give the gearbox a nice clean, as well as drain oil and fit new sideshaft seals

New clutch kit and gearbox fitted to the new engine

In with the new

Once i was happy with the way the engine was sitting i began customizing the cam side engine mounting. I was lucky enough to get a mounting with the 1.8 engine which helped a lot. This is what i have come up with, and is merely a guideline as to what could be done.

Original Corsa mount on left and Astra G mount(top piece and bolt) on right with engine bracket
Image
I cut the tubular shaft off of the Corsa mount and drilled the hole bigger for bolt to fit through
Image
Then came a lot of test fitting and alterations, i had to shave quite a bit more off of the Astra mount where it meets the shaft. Once the width issue was sorted i had to raise the mount in order to keep the engine level. Did this by cutting steel plates for each side as the body isn't level where the mount sits, there is a slight step up. This is a temporary solution, looking to have a proper one piece spacer made up. This is how its sitting at the moment.
Image

Next up was fitting the branch, then having it towed down to have it connected to the existing Powerflow exhaust system.
Image

Once i had the car back home i started connecting all coolant hoses and fuel line. Then once everything was in place i started with the wiring.

Once the car started i secured all the wiring connections and placed sleeving on to finish the look. Also found a nice place to mount the coilpack, thanks viper for the idea.

The end result

Car has just been road tuned so long and is driving well, hoping to have it dyno'd soon to give you guys some figures. Just want to say thanks to Carl with regards to wiring and starting issues.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

I started on a Thursday around lunch time, and by Saturday afternoon the engine was in with custom mount made. Wanted to try and finish early Saturday morning so i could tow down to have exhaust joined up, missed that deadline and had to wait till following Saturday. I then waited about 2 weeks trying to organize wiring and tuning of the Dicktator, i know was bad planning but didn't expect to get done so quick. I decided to tackle the wiring myself with the help of Carl. So all in all took about 4 weeks with all the delays and bad planning. Estimated cost is around R18 500

Small update:

Been looking for a set of OEM wheels for a while now, and happened to stumble across these a few weeks back
Image

One of the rims had a few bad pavement scratches, forgot to take pics of that one and the repair process. So them decided for some DIY "fun". After quite some time cleaning and then sanding the wheels, the primer went on.
Image

Allowed for some drying time and checked that there was good coverage, then i opted for metallic charcoal by Dulux Duco Spray. This was the end result
Image

Fitted some new Bridgestone MY-01 this weekend as well as had the balancing and alignment done.
